How To Buy a Domain Name?

One of the most important stages before building a website is acquiring a domain name.
What is a domain name? Domain name is the known name of a website, for example: www.cnn.com.
Any computer on the Internet has an IP address, such as: 154.52.33.11.
Since we don’t want to search for websites by typing the 12-digits, the international internet organization has decided to represent websites using names.
Each domain name is registered with the domain name registrar and can be associated with a single owner.
For example www.cnn.com is registered to CNN and no one else can register it or be associated  with it.
When looking for a domain name, it is important to know:
  • Whomever takes up the domain name first, the domain will belong to them. This is the reason it is important to register a domain name that matches your business or name as soon as possible. First come, first served.
  •  Once a domain is registered in your name you have the exclusive right to it as long as you renew it every year.
  • It is not recommended replacing the domain in the future. Your visitors will not recognize your new domain, nor search engines.
  • Maximum number of characters for a domain name is 26 and the minimum number is 3.
  • Valid characters for Domains are English letters and numbers. The only sign that is permitted is a dash (-). It is allowed only in the middle of the domain name.
  • Try to find a short and catchy name, so it will be easy for your customers to remember.
The domain name might accompany you and your website for years. It is important to invest enough time and effort and not to compromise on this important choice.
